Win My Book!

I’ve got five advance copies of the paperback edition of A Radical History of Britain to give away. To win one, just reply to this post saying, in twenty words or fewer, why you think it should win the Orwell Prize.

Competition also running via the facebook group, so hurry, hurry, hurry before they are all gone!

  1. It would win cos its history ;real, important, different, questioning and I didn’t write it – so its a helluva chance!

    • Hi Gary,

Good enough for me! Send me an e-mail with your postal address and I will bung a copy out to you. (You can find me e-mail address by following the link to my Roehampton page on the ‘About Me’ page.

  2. A lot of rot is written and talked about Britain’s past, by dewey-eyed nostalgists and nationalists: it’s refreshing to be able to read a national history that bursts out of those contraints. And I’m quite funny in prefering paperbacks to hardbacks – they seem more democratic somehow.

  3. Whoops, that was more than 20 words!

    Can I try again with:

‘How refreshing to find a history of Britain free of dewey-eyed nostalgia: Orwell would approve!’

  4. Enthusiastically and carefully written clearly transparent enticingly satisfying for academics and amateurs. A Presentation about the People for the People.
